Ever been frustrated trying to do a task but just cant seem to get a hang of it in time? Well, that’s where ‘life hacks come in’ ! They arm you with the neccessary information or should i say skills to face your chores and other life demands with ease…
Being a wife and mum of 3 kids isnt easy😅😰😉…joggling between these roles is a daunting task to say the least…so, i had to learn a few….
You can feel free to comment on the ones you know! So, lets rock this boat together and make it a swell journey for us😊😊😆😆
1) peeling off boiled egg shell
Sometimes, getting a perfect, smooth hard boiled egg out of its shell as easy as it is, isnt…i know many times i end up with hagard looking egg with some of the egg whites stuck to the shell and this drives me nuts!
Anyway, the way to stop this from happening is to:
Use a pin to punture a tiny hole at the base of the egg before boiling the egg!
And voila, easy to peel eggs served!
2) How to stop teary eyes while Slicing onions
Just put your onions in the refridgerator hours before you need to use it, then when needed slice without tears.
Another option is to slice the onions while its submerged in water!
3) Wanna eat coconut but can’t break it fast enough?
I got you covered! Just hit the coconut with a hammer, mallet, grinding stone or what have you along the equator of the coconut! It will send vibrations through it enough to crack it open without making a mess!
You can also break it from the weakest eye on the top of the coconut! Just make sure you use something heavy enough to create the amount of force needed!
4) seperating Egg white from the yolk
Its as simple as A.B.C…with this trick…you only need to get an empty plastic coke or table water bottle, use the mouth of the bottle to suck up the yolk and the egg white will be left!
5) Got a stale bread?
No problem, just run a little bit of water over it, and heat it up for about 3-5mins in the microwave and your bread is as good as new!
6) popping champagne has never been so much easier!
Rather than going through the rigor of using a cork screw, just point a blow torch toward the bottle right in the postion of the cork…in about a minute or two, the cork will gently slide out!
Enjoy your glass of wine, Without loosing a drop!
7) Iron face stained?
Your iron keeps staining your clothes, you cant scrape it out…and its getting you down…well..look no further! Just heat the iron up, apply toothpaste on it, while still hot carefully wipe it off with a cloth or cotton wool! And there you have a clean iron!
Be sure to put off the iron from the power source to avoid electric shock, make sure your hands are not wet and avoid direct contact with your skin to avoid burns!
8) Removing Dirt from Beans
Picking dirts from beans isnt one of my favourite chores! Its time consuming!
Well, i find that decantering the beans does the trick at the same washes the beans well enough!
All you need to do is pour the amount of beans you want to cook in a bowl of water, most of the dirt that are light weight ( such as the dried bean pod and other dirts) will rise to the top of the water, sieve this out, you can do this as many times as you want depending on how dirty the beans is…
Then, seive out heavy dirts by decantering the beans…(you pour the beans out carefully while still in water, till the last few bottom ones…you will most likely have the stones and other impurities settled down the bowl…which can then be poured away!)
